Word from the President.

Novermber 23, 2009

Welcome to Antelope Valley Soccer Club Ambush's official web page.  The mission of AVSC Ambush is to provide a safe competive environment to develope top quality soccer players and contributing members of society in our community.  Ambush is the original soccer club in the valley and we've had the best record in our area.
The season has come to a close and I want to congratulate every team for their efforts.  In particular I want to congratulate the Ambush Boys U-14 Silver who earned first place in their bracket and guaranteed a very delayed promotion to Silver Elite.  We have a lot to look forward at State Cup and during tournament season.  I'm sure we'll be bringing some of those tournament championships home.
Speaking of tournaments and Championships.  Here our newest Champions.
Ambush Boys U-14 State Champions
The Ambush U-14 Boys are Cal South State Champions.  The boys played there hardest rivals in both the semi-finals and the finals this Saturday at the Lancaster National Soccer Complex.  Both games were filled with nail-biting excitement.
First, in the semi-finals Ambush face Poway Vaqueros in a see-saw battle.  Ambush took the lead with a goal by Carlos "Charlie" Gonzales.  Vaqueros came back with an unstoppable direct kick.  Kenny Casillas answered right back with a direct kick of his own to take the lead once again.  Vaqueros again tied the game in a 50/50 challenge against Ambush keeper Omar Rodriguez.  This put the game into over time where Andy Tenas defined the end of the game by scoring from a cross by Sergio Ayon .
In the finals they faced Chivas Jr. USA.  Within the first five minutes of the game, Angel Torres delivered an impressive scissor kick "Chilena" from a cross by Andy Tenas.  Chivas came back the first half and tied the game 1-1.  Kenny Casillas who missed a penalty in the first half, redeemed himself by scoring another direct kick from just outside the 18 yard box.  Robert Gonzalez added a third goal with just under 7 minutes left in the game.  Chivas did not let go off their chances and score two quick goals with less than 5 minutes left to play.  There was no more scoring in the overtime periods.  Efrain Banos took over as goalie for the PK shootout and became the difference.  He stopped the second of Chivas' kick giving Ambush a 5-4 victory.  Sergio Ayon was the MVP.
"I'm very proud of the team," Said Coach Hugo Torres. "However," he told his players "We must work harder now because now we are expected to reach a higher level."  This is the first State Championship for Antelope Valley Soccer Club Ambush.
The team now heads to Medford Oregon, where they will face the states champions from Utah, Hawaii, Oregon and 8 other states to determine a regional champion who will move on to Tennessee for the national championship.
